Every year, Milan’s Salone del Mobile (Milan Design Week) brings us the best in products, trends and installations. We've created 5 captivating moodboards inspired from our favorites at Salone.
Gucci's iconic "Parola lamp" and "Le Mura" sofa are just two examples of the Rossa Ancora (cherry red) homage to past design icons...with a twist. Arguably one of the most popular exhibits at Milan Design Week this year, Sabato De Sarno is making his mark by leaning into a past era of Italian design. To contrast this, modern 3D printed objects brought decorative and unique installations to visually stunning windows.
Andrés Reisinger's experimental installation "12 Chairs for Meditation" encourages the viewer to go inward through an introspective journey that detaches us from the constraints of time. The installation is comprised of a new collection of chairs resembling rock structures and is accompanied by a mosaic of a sky with floating apples and a musical composition created by the artist.
The Belgian duo, Muller Van Severen, has partnered with BD Barcelona to create their first line of sofas and cabinets. The bright, lacquered cabinets contrast the soft, buttery PILLOW Sofa System that come in pastel creams and sage greens that fit together in ways that evoke natural formations.
While Salone is all about the seeing products up close and personal, Panter & Tourron took that to the next level turning a local Milanese apartment into their own personal speakeasy. Guests were invited to come, lounge and lay on their beautiful sofas contrasting elegant design with inviting and warm Italian style.
Saudi Arabia's design space AIUIa is invoked through Sabine Marcelis and CLOUD's modular sofa designs featured at this exhibition in Brera. The furniture was surrounded by ambient sounds and traditional accessories from artists and collectives around the world including Jeddah-based architect Leen Ajlan’s Takki and French collective Hall Haus.
