Tell us a little about yourself and how you first got into design?

I studied surface pattern design at Syracuse university and worked in the industry as a textile designer for a few years. That is where my inspiration sparked, leading me to create LebaTex in 1999 and Stacy Garcia Studio, in 2004. I feel grateful to be able to collaborate with various companies, transforming my creativity and designs into everything from flooring, tiles, wallcoverings, and residential products.

You’ve launched many successful design businesses. Can you break them down for us?

LebaTex is my textile company, which specializes in providing concierge level services along with valuable, luxurious fabrics that have a designer’s touch. Stacy Garcia Studio is my licensing and trend forecasting firm where we specialize in trend research as well as developing products that bring joy into any project.

Tell us about a turning point in your career?

When I realized that there was the potential to expand through licensing. Originally, I started LebaTex to put my creative designs onto fabrics, but soon after, I had other manufacturers who were interested in working with me to create collections as well, and that is when I founded the Stacy Garcia Studio.

Where do you currently live and what do you love about it?

I live in upstate New York, and the natural beauty that surrounds it is truly inspiring. In fact, the latest collection from LebaTex draws inspiration from the lakes and mountains of a local town, Piermont.

How does your living space and neighborhood inspire your designs?

My living space in Hudson Valley, close to New York City, is a massive inspiration for me. The tranquility of the valley and the energetic vibe of New York City is always reflected in my designs. Even though they seem to be opposites, I have found that sweet spot where they blend seamlessly to infuse a perfect balance into my creations.

Take us through your design process when imagining new products, textiles and patterns.

I draw inspiration from my global travels and personal experiences. Every pattern, texture, and color of each design is carefully curated to tell its own unique story. I would say the most exciting part for me is seeing our trends come to life through our products!

What trends and themes are you hoping to include in your designs this year? What’s speaking to you?

This year, I am excited to incorporate our 6 latest trends into my designs! Two standouts would be Metascape and Tactile Luxury. Metascape offers a dreamy, futuristic vibe with ombre pastels, fluid lines, and smart lighting; while Tactile Luxury indulges the senses with textured upholstery and wallcoverings, as well as marble and stone. We have a great 2025 trend report that break down our thoughts on trends.

Do you collaborate with other creatives, artisans etc.?

At Stacy Garcia Design Studio, collaboration is at the heart of our business model! We are fortunate for our partners and to be able to work with so many creative lines in a broad range of fields. From floor to ceiling, our collaborations enrich every project with the expertise and creativity of my team and esteemed partners.

Tell us about the last home-related purchase you made and what you loved about it.

I brought back a beautiful hand carved marble bowl from my recent trip to India. It is made from a marble that is specific to the region of Jaipur, where they are known for a non-porous marble, and it is also carved in the shape of a lotus! I love bringing home special pieces from my travels so that my home becomes a collection of my favorite memories.

Tell us about the top 3 materials and finishes you gravitate towards?

Wallpaper, Marble and Wood.

When it comes to sprucing up walls, I always love using wallpaper. It just adds that extra pop and personality to a room that you cannot get with plain paint. When it comes to materials, I go for anything natural, especially quartz or marble. Their organic patterns allow you to bring the enchantment of nature indoors. Finally, I love wood. It adds warmth to your space that makes the interior feel cozy.
